Fall AOP-20 Council Face-to-Face Meeting

Thanks to Mid-East Technology Centers for hosting the Fall AOP-20 Council meeting!

Mid-East provided light refreshments created by Mid-East students – breakfast sandwiches, fruit cup, coffee, tea & water.

The meeting was held in the Fox Room. The campus address is 400 Richards Road, Zanesville, OH 43701.

SPECIAL INVITATION:  Immediately following the meeting, Superintendent Matt Sheridan invited all to tour the new Activity Center. Following the Activity Center tour, Mr. Sheridan continued the tour of several student labs.


DEVELOPING THE WORKFORCE

Appalachian Opportunities from Kindergarten through Adulthood

Kindergarten – Sixth Graders from  across the region will soon have the opportunity to participate in career exploration, building  awareness of careers at an earlier age and supporting the Ohio Attainment goal.  Joy Wolfel, Career Exploration Instructor shared the early stages of the exciting MECTC partnership work being done through the Regional Educational

Fostering Access through Opportunities
Located in Nelsonville, Ohio, FAO is a regional philanthropic foundation. They respond to individual and regional needs. Among the many initiatives they embrace, they are currently responding to the K-12 workforce needs through their “Growing Home Fellowship” program. We learned about the many opportunities they provide from Kelly Morman, Director of Programs.

Ohio Appalachian Manufacturing Coalition
James Ruble, OAMC Director, provided an update of the work of AOMC as it seeks to create manufacturer-led solutions in partnership with education, workforce, and economic development that motivate and prepare youth and incumbent workers through skills, training, and credentials to enter and advance in manufacturing careers. Lessons Learned from Regional Work Force Summit
Dr. Hannah Nissen, Dean of Ohio University Zanesville, shared insights gained from the regional summit held at OUZ on September 15. She highlighted information and insights from the
