Staff from Ohio University’s Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs were invited to facilitate a group exercise for the following:
- To engage business, education, and community leaders in identifying strengths, opportunities, and challenges facing the region related to education and preparing students to enter the workforce.
- To collect information that will inform the development of the P-20 plan.
The process for collecting data was two-fold. Participants had the opportunity to contribute to a SWOT Analysis (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats), as well as, fill out a Questionnaire Card. Individuals participating in the SWOT Analysis were asked to break into eleven groups of around six each to collaboratively identify key areas of need as well as potential opportunities for collaboration. Each table completed a SWOT Analysis for the region and turned in one sheet with their notes. In addition, participants were asked to fill out a Questionnaire Card containing two questions and return them to Voinovich School staff members. These questions were meant to give participants a chance to provide additional, personal input they may have felt was not covered or adequately emphasized in the group SWOT discussion. Our next meeting is April 10, 2015. Please mark your calendars to join us as we move one step closer to formulating a plan for our AOP-20 region.
